The beginning of a new year is always a harbinger of people making new habits, new goals, and new plans.
I’ve touched on mine before, but I don’t think I’ve specifically mentioned things I’d like to try in the new year.
I noted that I’d like to step out of my comfort zone this year. That’s my overarching theme to 2013, so let the comfort be gone! I need to get off my butt and do more… ya know, when I have the time. Which these days, is never.
1. More alternate forms of exercise
Stand-Up Paddling: I got a stand-up paddle board for Christmas. I am so excited to learn and reap the benefits of a stand-up paddle board workout. As soon as the weather gets warm enough, I plan to tackle the waters of the harbor around the corner from my house. My board is calling my name from the shed in the backyard.
Indoor Climbing : Let it be known that as a child, I had my birthday party at a rock climbing gym two years in a row. I adored navigating the indoor rock climbing walls, and I haven’t seen one since high school gym class. Jamie and I have big plans to go climbing sometime when I don’t have rehearsal, and I’m pumped.
Yoga: This is something I have neglected to take on for quite a while now. I find I fall victim to the “I want a real workout” mentality and always opt for a run or a boot camp session rather than sitting around and twisting my limbs. I’d like to change that, though, and I plan to stake out Groupon and Living Social for some hot or vinyasa yoga classes in my area.
2. Photography Class: I’m one of those people who owns a fancy DSLR Canon Rebel and doesn’t even know how to use it to its potential. I really, really need to learn, and I’d love to take a class to better my photography skills.
3. Finding My Passion : At the risk of sounding completely vague, I am ready to make 2013 the year I become more fulfilled. In general, I’d like to be making more of a difference. I want to find passion in everything I do, and I want to wake up every morning with purpose. There’s no better time to make this happen than now.
I wanna hear your plans for 2013! Leave me some ideas here.
