It’s no secret I’m a big advocate for spreading love and cheer at any time of year.
Why else would I splash photos like these all over the internet for you?
Just trying to spread the joy. I do it for you. I try to make you happy, and I like to make you laugh.
So, in the spirit of the holiday season, I’m gonna give five lucky United States LOB readers a bag of Love Grown Foods Granola, a company for which I’m proud to be an ambassador (check out all my pretty fellow LOVE bloggers here!).
Chloe is not so psyched about my willingness to share the LOVE. She gets all the pieces I gracefully drop on the floor as I’m shoveling the stuff into my mouth in my sexy satin robe.
The flavors up for grabs? simply oats, apple walnut delight, raisin almond crunch (my favorite!), sweet cranberry pecan, and cocoa goodness (my second fave). This granola is awesome in almond milk (or any milk, for that matter), atop a yogurt bowl, in cookies, and out of the bag. I love it on everything.
I even sprinkle a little bit in my hair when I’ve had a rough week. “What do you think holds it up, slick?“
(I don’t really throw granola in my hair.)
To enter:
Help me spread the Christmas cheer. Leave a comment telling me a funny story (bonus points if it’s Christmas-themed).
For extra entries:
(please leave a separate comment for each so it counts):
- follow me on Twitter @aBLYSSa
- follow Love Grown Foods on Twitter
- like Life of bLyss on Facebook
- like Love Grown Foods on Facebook
- tweet some variation of the giveaway: “@aBLYSSa is spreading love and cheer with @LoveGrownFoods. I’m entered to win the LOVE! http://bit.ly/sjjd3b”
5 winners will be randomly selected on Friday morning.
Do it fast, so I can send these out and Chloe and forget about all her granola hopes and dreams going out the window. I need a happy little Christmas puppy around here.
CONGRATULATIONS to Jacqui, Cheryl, Lindsay, Kelly, and Julie… you girls will be getting a nice treat in the mail shortly after the new year! Please e-mail me your mailing address at alyssa@lifeofblyss.com so I can get these out to you.
Since my mission in this post was to spread holiday cheer, I’m attaching the “funny story” comment of each winner randomly selected by Random.org.

Once Christmas my ex-boyfriend was convinced that I wanted a gun for Christmas. I really wanted a new ski jacket. What did I end up getting? A freaking gun! That I never even shot. Because we broke up …and I decided to leave it…because it was custom fitted to my body. Karma!
I could use some awesome Granola!

As I was traveling home for winter break from Indiana to New York this past week, my first flight was delayed making the time between my connection really short. In anticipation of a good run, I laced up my sneakers, zipped up my coat and pulled my backpack nice and tight. As I was literally sprinting through the Detroit airport (up stairs, dodging people and running on those flat escalators) I got the nicest and most hilarious words of encouragement from a female airport security member. I was sucking wind real hard at this point but still holding on to the hope that I could get to my gate within 3 minutes before it closed when I heard her yelling, “KEEP RUNNIN’ GIRL… YOU GONNA MAKE IT!!” I couldn’t help but crack up and was thankful that she was able to put a smile on my face. I ended up making the flight!

What did Adam say on the day before Christmas ?
It’s Christmas, Eve ! *crickets*

I LOVE Love Grown and it’s not sold in Pittsburgh! A story…
“Santa Claus” always brought our tree Christmas Eve – so the first year I didn’t believe anymore, my parents thought I’d be up and helping them bring it and decorate it (not so much). We did wait until the last second to buy one though (we always have a live tree) and ended up just taking one from an abandoned shop that put the remainders out for the trash. It was the saddest tree in history – and to top it all off, around 3 AM I heard a crash – all of our favorite ornaments weren’t on the tree the next morning, just the ugly paper/cardboard ones that hadn’t broken.
Now that my brother is grown up we get the tree before Xmas Eve and my parents get to sleep.

let’s see… funny story- i attempted to make some chocolate protein granola the other day and half the batch got wayyy burnt. the funny (ok, maybe it’s sad) part… i picked out the good pieces one by one so i could still each some of it! moral of the story- i would LOVE some lovegrown granola since i couldn’t mess it up!
Oh I missed the funny story thing… Hm. When I used to babysit my little brother around Christmas time and he was being bad, I would pretend to call Santa on the phone to get him to behave. He was all “NOOOO!!!! Don’t call SANTA!!!!” and then he was good

I’m a teacher. My assistant principal has a metal, and let me add SQUEAKY brace she wears on her leg. Many people have given her WD-40 as a joke and tell her to go grease her brace. She came into my room early in the morning as I was teaching a reading lesson. She was extra squeaky that day and before I could stop myself, I said, “whoever is squeaking their desks and chairs needs to stop NOW!” She casually kept walking and squeaking and said, “Oh, don’t mind me.” I was SOOOO embarrassed!
Now, give me that granola!

My mom has 2 cats and a teacup poodle who loves cats or maybe thinks she is one. Last year, Furgie the poodle thought she could climb a tree like the kittens so she climbed the tree about half way. We couldn’t find her for about an hour!!!! She just perched in the tree and not one ornament fell off. It was fantastical! aaaahhhh I love her!!
Hmmm funny story… let’s see… last christmas, I got a phone call from my father-in-law saying that the police were looking for my husband. He was under suspicion for robbing Home Depot. Turns out, someone had stolen his license plate off of his car, affixed it to their car and then robbed home depot. A witness caught the plate number and turned it in. Thankfully, my 5’9″ husband didn’t match the description of the 40yr old 6’5″ guy who did the robbing!

Well funny story – gave my dog some valium (aka doggy downers because he’s a bit anxious when lots of people are over) and it made him react like he had just taken a doggy viagra. All over anyone and everyone…quite entertaining
Well, it’s not Christmas themed, but oh well:
When I first went to Spain (for study abroad), I had an “intercambio,” which was a conversation partner. Now, I knew a little Spanish (college level, I suppose), but I hadn’t had any real practice talking with native speakers. So, I had a lot to learn. I tried everyday to learn new words. One day, I thought I’d learn the word for straw.
Little did I know there are two words, very similar ones, but one means “straw” (pajita) and one means the act of a man masturbating (pajilla). Okay, lesson learned.

Okay so while I don’t think this is particularly funny it is kind of cute/ involves Christmas. I was 3 years old watching my mom make pumpkin bread on Christmas Eve and asked her what she was putting in it as she was sprinkling in a spice. She said, “nutmeg” I put my hands on my hips and very sassily said “I’m NOT a nut, Momma” (my name is Meg…) It has been over 20 years and my mom still tells that story every year when we bake pumpkin bread together when I’m home for the holiday.

Funny story: last night my boyfriend and I tore apart every fire detector in the house because something was beeping and we couldnt figure out what it was. We finally found out it was from the basement, so he took it apart and we put it aside to get a new battery today and as soon as we got back in to bed, it let out one last beep (even though the batteries were taken out). it slept outside.

This story isn’t as funny as it is cute… the other night we had a strand of Christmas lights laying on the floor. Somehow my dog (yellow lab & love of my life) COMPLETELY wrapped herself up in the strand of lights. The lights were lit up at the time as well, making it even funnier/the cutest thing ever. Naturally I snapped about 500 pictures of her before helping her get out… the whole time she had the same expression on her face as Chloe has in that last picture

One year in high school I was getting ready to go to midnight mass but for the life of me could not find the dress that I had recently bought to wear. I was convinced that my mom wrapped the dress and so I thought it would be necessary to open all of my gifts (aaaand maybe my little sister’s) to just make sure that it wasn’t there. Sure enough, it wasn’t wrapped and of course it was in my room and somehow got shoved underneath my bed. I felt like an idiot and I knew everything I was getting for Christmas (aaaand maybe my sister knew hers too since she was staring at me in amazement at what I was doing).

My precious Grandma has early on-set dementia/alzheimer’s and lives in assisted living now — Now that I am back in Seattle, she was one of the first family member I saw after landing. I’m so glad she’s still her ornery lil self, and that her personality shines through the unfortunate and heart wrenching forgetfulness.
The other day while hanging out Christmas Carolers stopped by and handed out Christmas cards, and these bracelets with bells on them before singing. A youngster, no more than 2 years old came up to my Grandma and gave her his bracelet–then when he wanted it back she said no!! He was instantly upset that she didn’t want to give it back!! I was having fun watching because she was just messing with him. She of course gave him the jingle bracelet back, but had a little fun in the process, which is in true fashion in my family!
True Story. I actually woke up this morning to go to work, parked my car in the public transit garage, came back 4 hours later during my lunch break and there was a freakin dead bat plastered to my front license plate. I have now dubbed my car the ‘Batmobile’

Hmmm. I have a funny Christmas one. I was at target buying ornaments and they have some that come in big plastic round containers. Well some a-hole put it on the shelf with the bottom out. I picked it up and the ornaments rolled all over the floor (there had to be 50 of them!), and made the loudest sound ever. At least 10 people saw me! I was embarrassed.
One year at Christmas when I was young, we had a squirrel sneak into our house (our back door closed very slowly so he snuck in). We were watching tv in the living room and all of a sudden our christmas tree started to shake and the the squirrel darted out and headed for the glass door. Since he didn’t know he couldn’t actually get outside even though he could see outside, he slammed into the door. So here my parents are trying to “herd” this squirrel to an open door to get him out of the house. It was hilarious!
I have two wonderful black labbies named Lucy and Roxy (A.K.A. Wiggle and Sausage) Well, one christmas when Sausage was a puppy we stepped out to pick up some decorations for cookies while we left 2 pounds of butter softening on the counter. When we arrived home, we found our sweet little puppy slipping and sliding around our tiled kitchen covered in slime in what we later found out was liquified butter. Little fatty girl ate all the butter then vomited it up and was sliding all around in her own puke. It was hysterical. Every time she would try to run to us she would stay in place or face plant. Since that, she has gotten into and gorged on more things until she is stuffed like a sausage and can barely move, hence the nickname.
Love your blog
thanks for the laughs!

One year, I got this awesome doll from Santa, I did some special thing that I can’t remember anymore. Well I was playing with my doll and then my parent’s noticed it wasn’t working so my mom called Santa and they returned the doll. I was so so so mad because I really liked that doll. I think I ended up getting a different kind of doll and it wasn’t as cool as the first.
