Carbo Loading and Tapering

The Marine Corps Marathon. It’s 4 days away.

We checked Sunday’s weather like maniacs all day yesterday. Know what we saw? A forecasted low in the 30s. And showers.

I reacted calmly and rationally.

Fortunately, race day weather is looking a little better as of this morning:

Looks like we’ll be breakin’ out the arm socks for the start.

Who’s got some old sweatpants I can wear at the starting line and toss out 2 miles in? I’m currently taking applicants. Ryan Reynolds and Chace Crawford are encouraged to apply.


Whatever, Chace. I couldn’t toss yours out, anyway.

This week has consisted of dinky baby runs. I’ve been sashaying into the gym with the happy knowledge I only need to pound out 3, 4, and 2 miles this week. When you’re used to 30-40 miles a week, a 9 mile week makes you want to do heel clicks all the way to your treadmill.

Tapering gives me a new zest for life.


And for those of you who are worried I’m not carb0-loading enough this week, don’t you worry.

I’ve got it covered.

HAHAH one of my favorite office scenes! Fits perfectly when you realize that your arms, legs, fingers etc might freeze, die and fall off during your weekend long run 🙂

30s + showers = awful! I’m glad your race day weather is looking a little better now! I can’t imagine running in anything lower than 55, haha! I’m such a wuss. 😉

Good luck, girl!! I’m glad I’m not in your shoes … I haven’t invested in much cold-weather running gear yet, so I don’t know what I’d do!

And P.S. I’m currently carbo-loading 2 weeks in advance for my half marathon with two pumpkin and chocolate chip cupcakes, eaten in 2.2 seconds. 😉

I think carbo-loading is just the way I eat, SO I still love that you went for the beautifully decorated donuts!

My, what beautiful weather there will be fore your race! Not. BUT let’s hope for the absolute best!
