Just so you know, that song was the first rap song I ever knew all the words to.
Love you, Nelly.
So. You know from last week’s posts that it’s been really hot. I did a “Running in the HEAT” post, followed by an “I really wanted to do a 14 mile run but the heat screwed me and it sucked and I hated life” post.
On Friday, we hit a Dierks Bentley concert (fo free!). The walk from the parking lot had me sweating like Heidi Montag in a donut shop.
Seriously. Hot enough for me to buy an Icee and pour my beer in it.
Just try to stop judging me. It actually tasted like a cherry beer, thank you very much. I’m going to build an Icee Beer stand and make millions and you’ll all wish you were as smart as me.
Yesterday, said heat wave raged on until about 7 p.m. last night. I was greeted by a torrential downpour and a blown transformer. And no power in my house for about four hours. Saweeeet.
But before this all happened, I hit the gym with little expectations. I’ve been stressing about time and fitting it all in, and with Lisa-Marie’s wedding on Friday, I had no idea when I’d get my long run in.
I hopped on the treadmill (it was too hot for an outdoor run). I bit the bullet.
I did it.
14 miles later, I should have been completely embarrassed by the way I looked (and probably smelled) when I hopped of the treadmill, but I was too proud of myself to care. I teared up when I texted my dad that I was 14 miles closer to Dashing for Dad (for those of you who don’t already know, I’ll be running my marathon for prostate cancer, which my dad battled this past winter).
So, first PDR = done. 14 miles down.
And it’ll only get harder from here.
Why didn’t anyone warn me that time management is the hardest part about training for your first marathon?
P.S. My leggies aren’t even sore today. I also ate about 6 bowls of cereal post-dinner.
And, about that power outage. Chloe and I had a romantic dinner by candlelight.
Speaking of Chloe, guess whose Giveaway Winner Pet Portrait Prize arrived yesterday?
Remember when she looked like that just a few months ago?
