bLyssful Artisana Review & A Giveaway!

July 14, 2011 · 89 comments

Check out my guest post on laughing through life at In Sweetness and In Health!

But then come back, because I have more for you over here.

When Artisana sent me a bajillion nut butters to try, I was so overwhelmed in the best way possible. Just look at all this madness!

organic raw nut butter heaven!

I was so curious. I’m such a newb.. I hadn’t ever tried anything other than regular peanut butter or regular almond butter, so my head was swimming with possibilities.

Should I take ever packet to mouth all at one time? Spread them one by one on a banana? Add them each to oats?

Squeeze them all into the kiddie pool I bought for Chloe and swim in them?

Honestly, with all they sent me, I probably could.

Here you go, folks. A Life of bLyss organic nut butter wrestling tournament!

It’s actually a shame I didn’t think of that sooner. I was too excited about tasting each and every flavor of ground nut possible.

Bethany wants some organic raw nut butter.

As Bethany said when my package from Artisana arrived, I was “THE LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE!”

Artisana Foods’ mission:

Creating unique, delicious, healthy, gourmet food is a work of passion for us, blending together nuts and seeds like the vibrant colors of an artistโ€™s palette. Handmade with care, our organic live foods are crafted using a special low heat process that always preserves the life-essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, and enzymes.

Artisana: Raw life-energy from Sun to Plant to Body.

Artisana is devoted to sustainable living. Through their community, they support the organic and living foods movement, the Earth and her forests. They try to buy their foods as close to the farmer as possible. In many cases, they are able to buy straight from the organic farmers.

And that is pretty freakin’ awesome.

So, it took me a while, but I tried every single one of these nut butters to figure out which I loved the most.

I must just like making “ca-sha” sounds. ‘Cause the Cashew butter and the Cashini butter (a mixture of raw cashews, sesame seeds, and sea salt) stole the show for me.

The “raw” characteristic of the nut butters make them a little different to get used to. They’re just a little less salty and sweet. I thought it was so cool that every packet let me know which high amount of nutrients it provided.

I love what the company stands for. I should get into this whole raw eating thing.

The only flavor I really didn’t enjoy was the Tahini butter. I guess I only like sesame seeds whole, ’cause I just couldn’t get over the strange aftertaste of butter made of sunflower seeds.

And look. Artisana sent me two HUGE jars of Raw Coconut Butter and Cacao Bliss (you mean bLyss, right, Artisana?). So I have no need for these two little packets they also sent me.

Which means I’m giving them to one of you to try.

And look. Artisana’s website even offers recipes in which to include these little guys.

Artisana Crazy Coconut Smoothie

4 heaping tbsp. of Artisana Organic Raw Coconut Butter
2 Frozen Bananas
3 Dates
Juice of a Navel Orange
1 tbsp. of Raw Honey
1 tsp. Organic Vanilla extract
Ice

Blend all (except ice) until smooth, then add as much ice as you’d like.

Thank you, Artisana!

So. To have the two little packets sent to you, just comment below and tell me for what you’d use your raw coconut butter and cacao b(L)yss. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And since I always promote you scrappy girls, feel free to tweet about the baby giveaway for an extra entry: “thanks to @ArtisanaFoods, @aBLYSSa is giving away some organic raw coconut butter and cacao bliss! http://wp.me/p1D9Ej-LB”

I will select a winner randomly on Monday, July 18.

And if you have some more ingredients for this coconut butter goodness, by all means, hit me. I’ve got a lot of this stuff.

Have you ever tried hemp seeds? I love nut butters and I’ve been going nuts with them lately. They’ taste incredibly nutty, but have an incredible amount of omega 3’s in them. Nutiva (www.nutiva.com) sells some great hemp and they’ve also got a product called Coconut Manna (even better than Artisana’s Coconut Butter). Check them out! There’s tons of recipes on there site!

And have fun with all that product! ๐Ÿ˜‰
