Baby, I Liiike It!

March 24, 2011 · 44 comments

After my first disappointing go-around with greek yogurt, I was a little hesitant to try out the other types you all urged me to try.

But I got brave a few weeks ago, and after a quick run to Farm Fresh for all the goodies Food Lion doesn’t offer, I nabbed these three flavors of Chobani.

with fruit! on! the! bottom!

And do I have good news.

Chobani 0% Peach made an all-star appearance in my lunch first, and it gets two great big thumbs up! I was anxious to try the Pomegranate and Vanilla flavors, and although they were good (you can totally taste the arils ┬áin the Pomegranate), my favorite so far is the blueberry. I REALLY want to try the lemon, but I can’t find it on the shelves anywhere!

Three cheers for a new passenger on the greek yogurt train!

You guys were right. Thank you.

On the subject of “right,” I finally found the new Thomas’ Cinnamon Raisin Bagel Thins in the grocery store last week, and they have been a staple in my healthified egg mcmuffins. The cinnamon raisin flavor just adds so much to the egg, cheese, and turkey.

I did, however, utilize the ol’ Everything Bagel Thin in a new twist on my usual tuna salad. And gosh, was it good.

tuna + laughing cow light swiss + bagel thin = heaven.

To prepare my usual tuna salad, I chopped an onion and celery, then mixed it with the tuna, a dollop of free mayo, a dash of salt, and lots of pepper. Paired with the Laughing Cow Light Swiss cheese on an Everything Bagel Thin, it was a fantastic Omega-3 meal.

I served my little healthy tuna melt with some garlic and onion-sauteed green beans and celery with pepper jelly.

Sidenote: does anyone else have a slight pepper jelly obsession? I had a jar from Rosemont Winery from my birthday weekend, and I demolished it faster than I typically consume a jar of Naturally More Peanut Butter.

And you all know those don’t last long in my house.

Maybe a homemade pepper jelly recipe is in my future? ;)

the goods.

Lyssa needs her new camera. stat.

And guess whose race pictures came in?

Apparently, the downside to a rockin’ PR is a sloo of obnoxiously unflattering pictures. Cool how the photogs all hang out at the finish line where everybody’s too gassed to smile, huh?

"I can fly!"

clearly, my most flattering.

and, my favorite, recovered from the “Lost & Found” section…

oh, hey! just 9 miles in...

That second to last one deserves a frame around it. ;)

Which gives me an idea.

How many of you are brave enough to send me a hilarious race picture of yourself? It can me a professional, pedestrian-taken, whatever you’ve got. I see a quality post of “very attractive” race pictures in the Life of bLyss lineup… who’s with me?

Send your goofy-lookin’ race pictures to me at alhalter8@gmail.com. If you’ve got a blog, hit me with the address, too, so I can link you up. :)

So, what’s your favorite flavor of Chobani? Have you gotten a chance to try the new flavors?

Happy Thursdeee! We’re almost to the weekend!

Seriously-you look so good! I look the worst in race photos…I’m going to start posing…it might be better for the photographers sanity.

I love Chobani-but I tend to just add the fruit in myself and buy the plain yogurts. The lemon and blackberry are nom but vanilla is my favorite.

I looooooove the black cherry Chobani! But other than that I’m actually not a Chobani lover…I prefer Brown Cow’s vanilla and Oikos’ honey. And then Fage Plain 2%. lol!

I love the idea of a mid-race-awkward-pic post!!! I don’t have any horrible race pictures because well my very longest race ever was a 5k! lol! BUT I do have some naaasty pics of me making all kinds of gross faces while lifting.

Sable, definitely send me some of those. :) I can include them, too!

I’m glad you are onboard the greek yogurt train! It’s a fun one to be on. :)

And you look so hardcore in your pictures! Nice! I love the second to last one – you’re in the zone!

I love race photos! I have one that looks alot like that one you love, actually! It’s so funny to see what you look like while you’re running and find out that you don’t look half as epic as you thought you did…
I love chobani but I’ve never tried any but the plain. How syrupy is the fruit- I don’t generally like fruit-on-the-bottom for that reason. The flavors look fab though!

6 Alyssa March 24, 2011 at 2:05 pm

they’re not syrupy.. they’re pretty chunky! and I think they go fabulously with the thick texture of the yogurt itself. :)

I love the waving!!!!!

unfortunately I have competed in a race – something to do with severe anxiety leading up to it….

HAHAHA LOVE THOSE! Your faces are INTENSE girl! SO funny because I just finished my naturally more pb.. the jar lasted me WEEKS. I think it’s the first to last because I LOVE it but I can’t eat it with just a spoon, it’s toooo thick!

I was afraid to try greek yogurt, so I had started by getting the kid version of chobani which was pretty good. I tried the “adult” pomegranate chobani on Monday and I liked it better than the kid version. There are pomegranate seeds in it, but it was yummy. And the more unflattering running pictures are, the better!!

Lemon is the best! Had it this morning for breakfast! Put raspberries in it!

I didn’t even know there was a lemon flavor, sheesh.

Loving the race pictures, haha! For some reason mine always look like I’m about to hurl, or that I’m trying to run through quicksand. LOVELY.

I love the mango chobani!! I still need to try the lemon….it’s waiting patiently in the fridge for me.

I think you look awesome in your race pictures…rocking that run time!!

Lookin’ good, girl! I have really bad race pictures. In all my 10K pictures it looks like I’m walking. WTF?
I’m glad you found a flavor you like. I don’t know why everyone is having such a hard time finding the lemon flavor. It’s the BEST, but it’s always in stock up here. Hmm – I guess that just means my favorite bloggers need to move to NOVA?

Pom is my favorite Chobani!
I love that green running shirt. I always choose to wear my favorite running gear in races to compensate my my not-so-flattering faces.

Your race pics are great! Sadly, I don’t have any to send because I don’t run. It may have something to do with the fact that I look so ridiculous doing it! My pictures would surely be hilarious. :)

I LOVE Chobs, you NEED to try the Mango. Freeze it for about an hour and dig in. You won’t regret it ;)

I never keep the really bad ones. I guess I’ll have to start doing that now, hahahahha.

I have only tried Greek yogurt once and I did not like it. I have never tried Chobani though, so maybe I should try that one.

what a GREAT idea! but there’s no way in hell i’m giving you the picture of me where i look like i’m about to die from constipation AND kill the person taking my photo. yea….and it was only a 10k too….

imagine what i’ll look like in my first 1/2 marathon photos. I shudder…

p.s. you still look super cute in your “unflattering” pictures! If i didn’t like you so much, i’d be annoyed! ;)

Just found your blog!
Chobani Rasberry is DELICIOUS!! It actually could be a good substitue for ice cream! But have to say my favorite Greek yogurt is the plain FAGE and then add in my own fruit, almonds, or peanut butter—yummy!!

Great race pics too!

I totally wish I liked Chobani, but I’m a yogurt-hater :( There’s just something about the texture/consistency that does NOT make my tummy happy.
